Welcome to my blog!

Thank you for visiting my blog about cards and other hobbies. Stamp Club is for anyone that would enjoy making cards and learning new techniques - we would love to have you come! We meet the first Saturday of each month or the following Monday (unless changed because of holidays). (Each monthly get together is held those two days - sometimes one day is more convenient than the other!) An Evite is sent out each month - so if you would like to come to Stamp Club, just email me and let me know to put you on the Evite list: helencashon@gmail.com . Sometimes we have Stamp-A-Stacks or other classes also.

Stampin' Saturday 8-1-09 Part 2A - From the Past - OSW One Sheet Wonder

One Sheet Wonder

8 1/2 x 11 white cardstock stamped in Melon Mambo with Circle Circus

This technique is called One Sheet Wonder (hereafter called OSW). This is a quick and easy way to make a bunch of cards quickly. The cards below started off on an 8 1/2 x 11" sheet of cardstock. And some solid Melon Mambo cardstock is used when completing the cards as you will see below. The stamp set used is Circle Circus, and the different stamps are stamped in Melon Mambo ink. Note that the set has different sized stamps in it -- notice the two smaller size stamps. This also incorporates a very basic stamping lesson -- stamp off the edges, and I also tried to stamp in multiples of 3. (I did lose count after a while on these.) The sheet does need to be very busy - you will see why later in the cards. The smaller stamps help make the sheet busy. I also realized in the process of doing this to not alway try to put a stamp evenly in the middle of two other like stamps. With all the different stamps, it works better if you don't try to do this - it leaves room for the other stamps.

One this is done, I cut it up into 4 A2 cardfront size pieces. Then with each of those 4 A2 pieces, you cut them up differently. One was cut diagonally so you end up with two triangles. You will see this on cards 5 and 7 below. And putting the card vertically or diagonally makes a different effect also. I could have used the second triangle vertically on another card in the same or opposite corner like #5, but instead I turned the card to landscape position and made it horizontal - see #7.

Other quarter panels were cut into strips of various widths. Card number 6 shows why the original stamped image needs to be busy. If it was not busy, then there wouldn't be much on these two narrow strips.

There are several templates one can find on splitcoaststampers (http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/). Click on forums and then do a search on One Sheet Wonder and work your way through the various posts. Some variations have 3 squares glued on the cardfront, etc. Not all the parts of the template were used below - not even sure if I used all 4 quarters. I just put together what I was in the mood to put together. Kinda looked at one of the templates, but I didn't follow it exactly. Sometimes I might not have the time or patience to stamp the whole 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of cardstock so I will just stamp a half page (as most of you know, I have most of my white cardstock already cut into half sheets.) And sometimes I might just stamp a quarter panel and then just cut that one piece up.

Sally tried this and came up with some variations of her own with small squares or rectangles placed various ways on some of the cards.
