This blog posting will be posted in 3 parts since it's long. And I am remembering to start with what I want on the end first.
As those who were at Stampin' Saturday know, Earl and I were grandpuppy sitting that weekend for Candi and Mark's bulldog puppy, Baxter. So I'm uploading some pictures of baby Baxter. Actually, he is a toddler -- I remembered to ask Candi how old he was -- 4 1/2 months ... she said he was born March 17. He is just sooo cute now, we think - course we're biased! I just wish he would stay this cute and lovey. And he smells good -- like puppy - you can bury your nose in his fur. (Or at least I can - don't think it would be a good idea for Earl to do that. Earl has gotten along pretty well with him as long as he doesn't rub his face or eyes.) (Earl is snookered with baby Baxter too.) Earl commented he hadn't ever seen a dog sleep on its back before - so he took some pictures of Baxter sleeping on his back, snoring away. (Baxter snores a lot when he is sleeping.) Am uploading some of the pictures we took -- and one we took at Candi and Mark's the following weekend - cause I didn't get any "sitting pretty" pictures while he was here. Oh - forgot to say -- Candi and Mark took him to the doctor for "that" surgery (for "tutoring" as Nora's joke said) and then they left for a fun weekend, and left Earl and I to pick him up. He cried on the way home from the vet, and told me to tell Candi: "Mommy -- that was NOT doggie day care like I thought it was!" (He had been to doggie day care a time or two when they were not going to be able to be home to take him out midday -- when she first took him to doggie day care, he trotted right off from Candi to play - hurt her feelings it did cause he didn't cling!) He was fine when we got him home, and with the laser surgery, the incision was hardly visible. It didn't bother Baxter at all. We werer supposed to keep him on less activity -- that is not easy with a puppy. Earl and I did commence to spoil him, giving him a treat every time he went to the door and went to potty. So we had him trained when they got back to "let's go outside, just so we can come back inside and get a treat!" Most of the time we gave him part of his dog bone treats, sometimes a few of his kibbles food, and sometimes ice cubes -- he likes ice cubes for treats. He would take them in the den and chew them up, just like chewing up a bone. The brown fuzzy thing, which I think you will see in the pictures, is a big stuffed dog Mark gave Candi for some occasion -- until they could get a real dog. It is named Arby. Baxter loves to sleep on Arby, and also kneads and sucks on it -- wonder how soon Baxter got taken away from his Momma? Anyway, Candi said he does that when he gets tired - it looks just like he is nursing. (I'm wondering if I should write this -- Baxter is a he, after all, and a bulldog -- but it is really cute to watch him. (We took video). The next weekend, August 8, Baxter boy started school. They had to play catch up from missing the previous Saturday when Baxter boy was with us and Candi and Mark were at Amelia Island for a "together" weekend before football season with its long, long days starts.
So, here are our Grandpuppy pictures from August 1 and the "sitting pretty" one from August 8. Just a few. Course if you rreeaallly want to see more, Candi has lots of pictures on her kodakgallery and Earl and I are collecting quite a few of baby Baxter pictures too. (Just kidding.)
