Stamping Saturday 7.11.09

Brief comments right now. Wanted to get pictures up, but too late to write much. The first three pictures are the actual cards we made - the "Happy Birthday" one is Faux Seersucker. You can't see the seersucker effect in this picture - after stamping you run it through the crimper one way and then turn it a quarter turn and run it through the other way and it gives it a waffled look. The sentiment is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes which is a new set in the new catalog. I was impressed with this set cause it seems to cover almost all occasions. As I analyzed it, I went through the months ... July 4 was the only one that seemed to not be in there. There was a set back 6 or 7 years ago when I first started stamping that I never got cause I thought it was too expensive - and it had a lot of the holidays or sentiments in one set - and then they retired it - I am still kicking myself for not getting that set back then. But you can't get everything at one time - especially when you are first starting out. There is also a new punch on the Seersucker card -- the Modern Label punch. Each of the sentiments in the Teeny Tiny Wishes set fits in that punch. And as you can see - the Word Window punch fits on that Modern Label punch too. We inked the Pretty Petals background stamp in Certainly Celery and then took the CC ink off the flowers and the butterflies with a wet then dry Q-tip and then colored the flowers with a Pumpkin Pie Marker and the butterflies with a Regal Rose marker, then we huffed on the background stamp, laid it down and put the paper on top, scratch sheet on top of that, then rubbed.

The next card is an Awning card - the awning is kinda flatten out in the picture - put if it wasn't on the scanner it would be more 3D. Stamp set is Crazy for Cupcakes - I am really liking that set. We also used the Stamp-a-ma-jig to place the cupcakes and balloon where we wanted them to show through the window. As we discussed this before making it, we came up with some easier ways to get the window effect than the way we actually did it. Oh -- the power of the whole group of minds is so much better than the one mind!

And the third card we did was a Christmas in July one. I thought this was so elegant when I saw it on Splitcoast and I think it is quite elegant made up too. The purplish cardstock is one of the new in colors - Rich Razzleberry. It goes beautifully with the Going Gray. Actually I think the card I was copying from had Basic Gray (a dark gray) and I changed it to the lighter Going Gray cause I liked it better. The class thought the Going Gray was actually silver until I told them it was Going Gray. Maybe because the tree is embossed in silver. In real life, the Rich Razzleberry Ribbon matches the cardstock. Scanner just doesn't scan true to color. One day I will get a new scanner!

The last 3 cards are just some other samples I made - we did not make the last 3. The pink cupcake/balloon card was to show awning made an alternative way - with the Word Window punch. That awning did better on the scanner - it's not smooshed down. Then the last two pictures are two other cards I found made with the Snow Swirled set that I thought were pretty. The kraft one is 5 x 7.
